These are our openig titles we have decided we shall use, its not as many as a high budget film like panic room or Se7en, this is because we dicided that our film would be a low budget art house film. We will try out some fonts, styles and transitions to fit our thriller opening and decide which one we shall use in our final Cut. We are thinking we shall have white as our font the majority of our film is very dark and shadowed which means it will come up on the screen alot better clearer. we want the font to be stylalised and hand written to contrast against the very edgy and random feel to the opening. We will also use a flashing effect to make it to compliment the sketchy contrast.

Animatic storyboard

Here is our Animatic storyboard for our opening to our thriller, we have experimented in garage band to create a soundtrack. This soundtrack is a rough example of what we will use, we have decided that the final soundtrack that we will use will be a darker genre and the voice overs and the general editing will sharper and precise.

Add Video

After creating our animatic, we are now considering what shots and transitions we would like to use. for example the drawing shot merged into the physical eye we have to try and size it right and film it form a good high angle for it to work.

Early Costume and Prop ideas

This is a list of some of our prop ideas for our project that we are planning to use while filming, this is just a few ideas and will most likely to adopt other props and objects on the road to filming.

mirror
fake blood
Jewellery box
photo
torch
piece of paper
pencil
glass of water
TV

Our idea is to have very ordinary objects and twist them in editing to make them more creepy and weird to fit our genre or the mind playing thriller.

Location Ideas

Here are a few ideas for locations and set designs.....

We found that after looking at some of these different locations and taking the camera out to do some test footage that these some of these locations were not right at all partly because some of them were just too obvious that they were places in college and others just because they were too much like what you might expect to see in a thriller and it could come across as cheesey!

First Thriller ideas

Here are a few Opening credits for some thrillers which inspired our first ideas for our project, we wanted to create an opeing that was a little wierd and confusing. This was to give our audience a little insight to who the main character is and what might happen later into the film. The blurry openings below gave us this idea so that we could create an opeing that freaked the viewer out but was still intresting to watch.

The ring inspired us because of its fast blurry transitions and eery music soundtrack. It leaves the viewer confused and wondering what is happening in the scene and the rest of the film.
It's use of mirrors and eyes plays on the viewers emotions of creepy and thrilling fears.

Se7en also inspired our first ideas for our thriller project as it too messes with your mind and emotions. The use of extreme close ups throughout the opening is used well to confuse the audience and keep the suspence. The music involved is screechy with snipits in and out of creeks, murmering and electical twines.

Although The incredible Hulk is not a thriller persay, but more of an action movie, it's opening also inspired our thoughts and ideas. It's fast transitions and credits again merge into a thriller type opening, and the use of Mirroring, shadowing and water reflections give a creepy feel to the beuining of the film.
